 versus-consoles

In the last years, game consoles have become something more than just a machine that allows you to play games.
With the first Xbox and the PS2, people were able to watch DVDs at home. Later with the PS3 people were capable of watching films in Bluray, which allowed them to take advantage of the Full HD screens. At the same time there was the boom of streaming video services, such as Netflix, Youtube, etc.. and all the consoles allowed you to access them.

Previously, in the case of Nintendo and their the Wii they targeted the children and the people who usually don’t play video games. Their latest console, the Wii-U has been a failure, as the original Wii still sells more units per month than the new one. So now it’s the turn for Microsoft and Sony to bring their new consoles.

Next-gen-console-size-comparison

Comparison between the previous and the next generation

Both consoles will have 8 GB of Ram, a Radeon graphic card which is designed and manufactured by AMD, and a 500 GB hard drive.

Both consoles will support some kind of motion control. For this the Kinect 2 will be included with the Xbox one. The PS4 will rely on the PS Eye and the PSMove, which can be bought separately.

This will be reflected in the price of the console : The xbox will cost 499 dollars and the PS4 will cost 399.

Something that changes on the Xbox side, is that the new console won’t be compatible with games released for the previous Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 was able to run games designed for the original Xbox.

Both consoles will support a second screen, which won’t be included. For the Xbox it will be any device that supports the SmartGlass feature. On the other hand, for the PS4 it will be limited to their PS Vita. They will both support the new 4k televisions through the hdmi port.

Contrary to Nintendo, and all of the previous generation of consoles theses consoles won’t be Region locked, so you’ll be able to play games bought in another country / region.

Concerning the Online features, even if they are capable of offering almost the same but there’s a big difference. In case you choose the Xbox you will have to pay a fee to get into the Xbox live, while in the case of the PS4 you’ll be able to access content such as Netflix, Hulu, Skype, game DVR, a web browser without having to pay an extra fee. Only if you want to play online against other people you’ll have to subscribe to the PS+ network.

Even if you can find small differences in the hardware, the end user won’t care about them. The gamer will care only about what he gets on his tv, and since this are new consoles it’s up to the developers to do great games.

So here’s the list of the games that will be available for the Xbox on the first day.
